English Reading Strategies Week6




On Monday, September 7, 2015










We started class with “quiz” about healthy diet and natural disaster. Then, we studied in last week’s sheet about “Today’s Technology” -  Grammar about verb tense, speaking and listening. 







When we finished the sheet, the teacher let us group. She gave sheet each group. My group got sheet about “What is a search engine?” She let each group discuss in group and exchange with other groups.







I shared about search engine with other groups and got about “blogger of ELT”, “Podcasts” and “Facebook” from the other groups, too. 







I think many friends conveyed unclearly because they didn’t understand text and how to arrange sentences. Likewise, I understand text but I can’t convey because I seldom talk English in daily life. I think I have to practise more and try to listen to English movies and musics.

English Reading Strategies Week5





On Monday, August 31, 2015




"Today's Technology"







We started class with revising last week’s lesson. Then teacher let us write technological words and discuss about updating technology news. She handed out “Today’s Technology” and let us do exercises about article “Profcasts” I knew many new vocabularies about technology. 







Then, she let us group, paraphrase and summarize “Profcasts” in front of the class. The last,  she concluded again and do exercise about comprehension together. I think comprehending the texts is really hard. In the class, we spend much time paraphrasing and understanding texts. 






The teacher ordered us to conclude but many friends in my groups wanted to copy words by words. I know paraphrasing and concluding aren’t copying but I have problem about arranging word to be sentence with correct grammar. I think exercises about matching and filling words aren’t difficult but understanding and writing to be sentence to convey are more difficult.

English Reading Strategies Week4



On Monday, August 24, 2015



Natural Disaster [ Continue ]











We started class with discussing with partner about the lesson we studied last week in a minute. Then the teacher explained the text which was assigned to do as homework last week. She revised vocabularies about Tsunami such as refugee,casualty and victim. Then, she taught new lesson "Japan earthquake : Tsunami hits north-east"  She let us skim and scan the text without opening dictionary and discuss with partner in Thai.  




After that, the teacher let us read again carefully. she explained and questioned.  Next, she used PowerPoint to show the picture of fire and gave sheets "California fires : Evacuation orders given to 13000. We read and did exercise. The teacher explained text again and checked the exercises.  Last, she gave us an assignment to find an article about internet or technology to discuss with partner next week.





Today, I started being familiar with news article and loved how to use dictionary to find more meaning order to suit with context. Yes, I still had problem about referent words because I didn't exactly understand the text. I had to read more text in English to train. Importantly, I had to concentrate on text so much while reading.

English Reading Strategies Week3

Natural Disaster






Today, the teacher stared class with natural disaster clip in neighbor country. The teacher let us discuss about natural disaster by writing word about disaster which we knew. Then she let us read texts. "Myanmar flooding affects one million" 
and "Typhoon Soudelor hits China with deaths, floods and mudslides"  We discussed together with her. Next, we presented the assignment she gave last week. Each group presented well but there are some problems about language used in presentation. It's time up before every group finishedso the rests had to present next week. However, there was a text  "Landslides kill 9 in Doti and Gulmi districts of Nepal" Which we hadn't studied yet. Thereby, the teacher let us do as homework.





Like last week, the vocabulary was my favorite part. Similarly, I didn't like paraphrase. I couldn't  answer some question as I thought. Nevertheless, the teacher suggested us we do more exercises and train how to analyze text. I though this lesson was harder and harder so I had to try hard to accomplish.
