 Descriptive (Continue...)

Today, I and my friends studied about describing. We had to read the texts from the hand out which consists of BudapestPrague and Describing of People.

Before we started reading the text, the teacher answered the exercise B on page 23 which is to match each word with the correct meaning. The words from this exercise are related with the Komodo Dragon which we had already studied since last week.

When she had answered the exercise already, we started reading the text 2 which is Budapest suddenly. The text is about describing Prague and its tourists attractions what they look like. In pest, There are many attractive places to visit e.g., Baroque Architecture, Fascinating Museums or Millennium Monument. In contrast, In Buda, There are also many attractive places to visit e.g., Buda castle,The Citadel on hilltop sites, National Library, The castle Museum and The national Gallery.

If you have vacation in Budapest on St. Stephen's Day, you can witness the stunning firework display which is held on the Citadel

Later, we had to answer the question. Then, we had to underline adjectives that attribute the places. Some of them I didn't know about their meaning. So I found the meaning from Oxford dictionary online with pronouncing them suddenly.

Next, we read the text 3 which is Prague. This text makes me want to go Prague because it has wonderful places that I really want to go there such as Old Town SquarePrague Castle and Charles Bridge. When I had read it already, the teacher responded the questions by asking us about the answers. We got correct of all the questions so we were happy. Because we could understand the text clearly.

Later, we read about describing people who are Bert and Doris. We had to read and underline the adjectives that contribute their appearances and characters. When I had read it already, I drew the pictures that are Bert and Doris with their appearances and characters. It makes me understand how they are and look like.

When we finished reading already, the teacher assigned us work in group in order to describe things. We had to draw lots. My group got "Animal" so our group needed to describe about animal.

Our group conferred about describing animal. We chose "Lion" to describe it. I would like to show you about our work when we had done it already.

From this activity, I love it because we conferred about describing Lion. We shared ideas together. It makes me love working in group a lot. Everyone did it willingly and they seemed happy with doing it.

 It's time to ask question

 What did you learn today?

I read the texts which are "Prague, Budapest, Describing people", did exercises and did activity in the classroom

 What did you find easy?

In my opinion, the adjectives that contribute the things are easy for me. Because I can identify what part of speech. So I can guess the words what they are look like.

 What did you find difficult?

In my opinion, some adjectives are unfamiliar so I can't know them exactly.

What did you solve the problem?

When I see unfamiliar words, I will find their meanings after I finish reading the text. Then, I will pronounce those words and jot them down on my notebook.

What are your attitudes towards the lesson?

I think that this lesson is quite challenging. We should know a lots of vocabularies by reading more. If we have them a lot, we can understand exactly what the things are look like. So "Practice makes perfect"

  Descriptive

First, we started class with “quiz” about Recount and Narrative. I think the test it rather difficult and  I tried to do my best and I hope I will pass the exam.
When we finished taking the quiz test, the teacher taught the new lesson that it was "Descriptive" and she let us read the text about "Description"Then, she showed pictures and explained this lesson by showing some pictures which are as follow:

 Julia Roberts

 Pancake Khemanish

 Dragonflies

 Ants

 Budapest

 Prague

After we finished watching these pictures, we had to read about the text related with animal which is "KOMODO" Before we started reading, the teacher gave us to write the words associated with  "KOMODO"

Here were the words written by us

After that, we had to read whole of this text. Then, we must analyze, include the main point in each of paragraph and answer the questions respectively.

When I finished reading about Komodo called "Varanus", I concluded the text each of paragraph in spiderweb on my handout in order to understand what each of paragraph is about.

There are 5 points of this text. One is where Komodo livessecond is sizethird is sense and appearancefourth is habitat and the last one is diet.

When I finished including the text as spiderweb, I could answer the questions easily because it made me understand exactly how the author described it.

In my opinion, Thinking what the author describes and including the summary as spiderweb can be very beneficial. Because it makes me know and understand the sequence and how he describes.

Next, I needed to do exercise B that I had to match each word with the correct meaning. From this exercise, it was quite difficult as a result of its words. Some words, I have never met before so I had to read the context clue and try to guess the words. When I had done, I opened the dictionary in order to find the meaning and pronounce those words respectively.

The teacher assigned us to do the works. she wanted us to read and conclude as spiderweb on handout in order to think systematically.

 It's time to ask question

 What did you learn today?

I took the quiz test and learned about description

 What did you find easy?

In my opinion, description makes me imagine how the author describes.

 What did you find difficult?

In my opinion, This unit is Descriptive, so the vocabularies are pretty important. I see that  some words in the text I have never met before. Thus, it hardly guesses the text due to unfamiliar words.

What did you solve the problem?

I tried to pay attention in the classroom, imagined what the author describeก and tried to guess the words by reading the context clue. When I finished reading, I would find the meaning of unfamiliar words, jotted down and pronounced the words immediately.

What are your attitudes towards the lesson?

I think that this lesson makes me know how the things which are described are. I find more information to support the text. This's the way to gain more knowledge from this lesson.
